DELPRO REACHES 40-YEAR LANDMARK

Formed in 1975 to design and manufacture equipment for the converting industry, the Delpro business has developed by virtue of a continuous programme of research and development that has enabled the expansion of both product range and manufacturing capability.

Today, other sectors served include the flexible packaging, coating and printing industries with products ranging from custom-designed machinery and equipment to coaters, laminators, flexo printers, dryers, reel stands and chamber doctor blades.

More recently, in addition to these core industries, Delpro now supply finely engineered equipment across a range of specialist markets such as in composite material production.

Along the way, Delpro has developed a number of innovative systems that enable end-users get the best out of their production lines. Managing Director, Sarah Lowe says: “We relish the opportunity to work with the client to establish the most efficient specification and then oversee installation and commissioning, as well as providing post-sale support”.

She added: “It has been an interesting journey since the early days and we look forward to the future. The fact that we have reached this milestone is due to our biggest asset – our loyal and hard-working staff. All the engineers have been with us for at least 20 of those 40 years with the longest-serving member, Jason Kenyon, being here 28 years. This dedicated team will continue with our original philosophy – to give attention to detail and provide 100% back-up and service to the customer”.

Another reason for Delpro’s success has been the support of clients and the value the company places on them – in fact they are currently working on a large project with a client that they worked with nearly 30 years ago.

On a personal note, Sarah says: “The company was started 40 years ago by my father Dennis Lowe, initially as a consultancy service but soon growing from there. The fact that that was 40 years ago makes me feel rather old as I remember well him taking over two bedrooms of the house as an office and drawing office! However, the company soon outgrew the house and moved to new premises, then, after a further 15 years we expanded and moved to our current location in Glossop”.
